“WOW, I can’t belive we’re actually here!!!” Are my first thoughts as soon as the plan touches down in Edinburgh. But little did I know that there would be many more “wow” moments to come.

First Impressions

From the moment I arrived, Edinburgh struck me as a beautiful city steeped in history, where every step seemed to carry something from the past. Walking through its cobblestone streets was both charming and challenging. People weren’t kidding when they said how the uneven stones and steep hills are no joke. However, I’d like to think they add to the city’s character. We also lucked out with the weather. The skies were sunny with just the right amount of wind, and only a light drizzle here and there. With such a welcoming start, I couldn’t help but feel excited to dive deeper into everything Edinburgh has to offer.

Festival Fringe

I can’t really talk about Scotland without talking about the reason I was there, the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. The city was bursting with the amount of talent and art everywhere you turned. From street performers to full productions tucked into theaters, there was no shortage of entertainment. My favorite show I saw was Dance People, although Swamplesque came in at a close second. I found that both shows pushed the boundaries of performance in totally different ways. Performing myself was its own adventure, especially after spending the day exploring the city. It meant quickly shifting gears, but that challenge also made me and my friends feel like real professionals. Each night on stage felt fresh, like no two shows were ever the same, and that energy kept the entire experience exciting and unforgettable.

Favorite Activities

Outside of the Festival Fringe, one of my absolute favorite activities was the day my friends and I took to the Highlands. It was hands down the highlight of our tirp. Its stunning landscapes stretched out in every direction, full of history, and completely unlike anything I’d ever experienced before. Another standout moment was the Mary King’s Close tour, which was such a cool way to step back in time and get a glimpse into Edinburgh’s hidden history beneath the city streets. And of course, I can’t forget wandering through Dean Village and the Royal Botanic Garden. Both were breathtaking in their own way. Dean village felt like a little storybook tucked away from the city, while the gardens were 70 acres overflowing with beauty and calm, the perfect place to slow down and just take it all in.

Final Thoughts

I will forever be grateful for the chance to experience this journey, not only for myself, but also alongside my best friends who made every moment even more special. Together, we created unforgettable memories that I know I’ll carry with me for the rest of my life. None of this would have been possible without Yonder, and for that, I want to say thank you. You’ll always hold a special place in my heart.

Best,

Mya
