UA in Sweden: Politics and Women’s Studies

The Alabama in Sweden program provides a unique opportunity for students to spend the summer month of July exploring one of the most beautiful countries in Europe. Based in Stockholm, Sweden students visit castles, museums, cultural events, and the surrounding region and study the everyday lives of Swedes. Students learn about politics, social activity, cultural norms, and the incredible geography and city scape guided by faculty with extensive experience in the society. Swedes learn English in school from age six, and the combination of social democracy and political neutrality have created a society very different than in the US. Students find it easy to enjoy this land of the midnight sun, and for many this is the opportunity of a lifetime.
