It’s the night before I leave to go to Amsterdam. I’m feeling a lot of emotions: excited, scared, restless, etc. This will be my first time out of the country and the longest flight I’ve ever been on. Three weeks away to a place I’ve never been before with people I don’t know. Though it’s kind of scary, I’m also excited for this opportunity to learn about different cultures, eat new foods, see new things, make new friends and memories for a lifetime. It does feel slightly unreal still, but I think once I’m on the flight to Amsterdam is when it’ll hit me that I’m really doing this. I can already sense that I’ll probably get homesick, but I also know I would’ve regretted not doing this.
As long as I can remember I’ve always wanted to travel. I’ve always wanted to see the world and experience new things. Even with all my fears of the unknown, I’m glad I decided to take this leap because you never know what opportunities or experiences are waiting for you.I want to go into this experience with an open mind and heart and to leave with something I couldn’t get just staying in Alabama. I want this experience to give me the confidence to continue to explore new places and say yes to new opportunities. This is hopefully just the start of my travels. Overally, I’m excited to see what these three weeks bring me and how It’ll change my perspective and help me grow.
