Haylee Elizabeth Pack

Today was all about stepping back in time. Some friends and I made our way up the Royal Mile to Edinburgh Castle, its stone walls towering above the city like something out of a storybook. Inside, we explored centuries of history. The best part might have been the view from the castle walls: a sweeping panorama of Edinburgh’s rooftops, winding streets, and the distant shimmer of the Firth of Forth. You could see a clear distinction in Old Town and New Town, something I found incredibly interesting. On our way back down, the sound of bagpipes drifting through the air made the moment feel like the perfect postcard of Scotland. Sometimes, a single day really does feel like you’ve lived in another world!

Tips for Visiting Edinburgh Castle:
– Go early in the morning to avoid the biggest crowds, especially if you want to see the Honours of Scotland without feeling rushed.
– Wear comfortable shoes! You’ll be walking uphill on cobblestones and exploring uneven stone floors inside.
– Bring a jacket even in summer; the wind on the castle walls can get chilly.
– Book tickets ahead online to skip the long queues at the entrance.
– Give yourself 2–3 hours to explore properly, especially if you want to see the museums and military exhibits.
