Guten Tag! I’m Lillian and this is my first blog post of the summer. Last year I made three blog posts detailing my study abroad experience in Weingarten, Germany. This summer, I’m back in Germany, this time in the city of Freiburg im Breisgau. Our program began with a meetup in the city of Stuttgart two weeks ago. As we all got together, we enjoyed a group dinner at Brauhaus Schönbuch, one of the city’s many breweries. The next day, we took a train from Stuttgart into Karlsruhe, and then to Freiburg. We began our classes at the Goethe-Institut on June 2nd, with each of us taking a German language class pertaining to our current skill and aptitude. When we’re not in class, we’re enjoying delicious German food, meeting other students from all over the world, and exploring the city, which is home to a beautiful cathedral, the Freiburg Münster. Attached below is a photo of the interior.

The Münster is, in my opinion, the highlight of the city. As someone who has a deep appreciation for religious historical architecture, it was incredible to be able to attend mass there and view the amazing iconography and craftsmanship that went into building this cathedral.
Freiburg is also seated close to the Black Forest, or the Schwarzwald. Therefore, the landscape is equally gorgeous. Take for example the view from my dorm.

That’s all the updates I have for now. I’ll be back next week to share more on the city of Freiburg and what all we get into while we’re here. Tschüss!
