I have never travelled too far out of my home state of Alabama. I have been on a total of two flights all being less than one hour. In a few days I will be traveling over 4,000 miles outside of the US to an entire new country. I will have to take two flights that range over 8 hours. I am very nervous, but excited. Ever since I was a freshman in college and learned about studying abroad it was my dream. I always wanted to experience new people and new cultures and see how people lived outside of what I am used to. I think this experience for me will open up an entirely new world of people and cultures for me and allow me to see more of the world outside of my home country. I expect to have an open mind and try new things and adapt to other ways of living.
I chose to study abroad in London because I felt as if it would be a good introduction into going abroad. Although different, London is not too far off from a US city. Most people speak English so I am not learning an entirely new language, and roads and buildings are recognizable. However, as I get older and more independent I do expect myself to go to other countries that do not feel as similar to the US. Possibly a country where a different language is spoken entirely and where the way of living may completely differ from what I am used to. With that being said, Wish me Luck!
