As a Sport Management major, the UA in Europe: Globalization of Sport program creates an incredible opportunity to expand my personal understanding of the international sports industry. I hope to gain firsthand insight into how sport operates on a global scale, particularly in a country with such a rich sporting culture as Spain. By attending the 16th Annual EASM Summer School conference and participating in a sports marketing case study competition, I aim to sharpen my analytical and problem-solving skills while collaborating with students from diverse backgrounds.
One of my primary goals is to explore the economic, social, and cultural impact of sport in Spain. Spain has proven to be a central hub for international sports due to the Olympics and FIFA World Cup. I am especially eager to learn about La Liga’s global influence and the ways in which North American sports leagues are expanding into the Spanish market. Understanding these dynamics will help me develop a broader perspective on sport management beyond the U.S. model.
Beyond academics, I look forward to immersing myself in Spanish culture by visiting historic stadiums like Santiago Bernabéu and Camp Nou. Experiencing the passion of Spanish football fans firsthand will deepen my appreciation for the cultural significance of sport. I am so excited about being able to do projects and have conversations around sports with people from all over the world. Additionally, I hope to explore the cities of Madrid and Barcelona, gaining a greater appreciation for the intersection of sport, history, and society. This program will undoubtedly shape my future career in sport management!
