Hola, mis amigos! My name is Roman, and I got the chance to study abroad in Panama this spring break! I am so grateful for this opportunity! I chose to study abroad because my father went out of the country a lot, and I’ve always wanted to go. I’ve always been someone who’s had an open mind about everything and really wanted to experience a new environment. Although it was kind of scary at first, the faculty who is leading this trip is doing an amazing job at making everyone feel comfortable! To prepare, I made a list of everything I would need when being abroad. I also made sure to follow general airport rules, as I know they like to get crazy about liquids and all sorts of things like that. I am really excited for this trip. I know Panama will be a transformative adventure for me, and I can’t wait to meet new people, get closer to my cohort, and overall meet with executives of these different companies. It will really expand my perspective on how I see myself and what I want to do in life. I expect to get an understanding of how my major operates within companies like the ones we are meeting with. I am going to make sure I am asking all the right questions and just be curious overall. I am also expecting to try new foods. I can’t wait to see what Panamanian food is like and if it is suitable to my taste buds. I am also really excited to go to the Panama Canal. It’ll be so cool to see ships moving through the canal and how that whole process works.
