For spring break, I went on an astronomy and computer science-based study trip with my school, AUP, to Tokyo, Japan. This trip was filled with it all, we got to explore Tokyo and went to 3 other cities: Kyoto, Himeji, and Sayo. Sayo is a super tiny town that even speaks a different type of Japanese that’s harder to learn, like Portuguese to Spanish. We went to the top of a mountain on a college campus to go explore a 2m telescope and to stargaze as well. We had two lectures from two Japanese professors who have been learning astronomy for all their lives. I definitely gained a deeper understanding of astronomy and how to understand it. Not only did I get to explore a whole new culture in Japan, I went on the trip with my school so we had 20 students with us and I met a whole bunch of people who I most likely wouldn’t of met before. So many kids from a lot of different places, some being Nigeria, Bulgaria, Iran, France, Ireland. Im lucky I got to meet so many new people and create so many more friendship’s that Im glad I made. This trip was well worth it and if you can you need to take risk even if its something new because the world is huge and you need to explore it before you cant anymore.
