A couple of months ago, I made a last-second decision to apply for the UA Macroeconomics Study Abroad trip. I had seen a flyer about the program and decided to do a little research. It seemed reasonably affordable, and it would help me complete a class in just three weeks. The best part: I would have the chance to visit four countries while doing so.

I mentioned it to my parents, somewhat jokingly, as I honestly didn’t know how feasible it would be or whether they would agree. However, the plan slowly came to life. Now, after several days of shopping, packing, and planning, I’m about to embark on what I would call a once-in-a-lifetime sojourn.

I have always loved the thought of wandering the world, yet the opportunities have never quite presented themselves. This will be my first time in Europe, and I hope there are many more trips to come. While I can admit I was a little nervous about being in a new country for three weeks, I am primarily excited. Not only have I grown used to being away from family throughout semesters in college, but I have also learned that it is quite easy to meet new people and connect. Everyone is in the exact same place; everyone hopes to make meaningful connections and create lasting friendships. Everyone hopes to experience something sublime and carry new memories home with them.
