One of the biggest reasons I was excited to study abroad was the opportunity to travel and experience places I had only ever seen in pictures. While the academic side of studying abroad has been incredibly rewarding, some of my favorite memories have come from exploring new cities and countries with the friends I’ve met along the way.
Throughout my program, I have had the opportunity to visit an incredible variety of destinations across Croatia, Italy, Slovenia, and Switzerland. In Croatia, I traveled to Dubrovnik, Split, Zadar, Zagreb, and Pula. Each city had its own unique charm. Dubrovnik’s historic walls and stunning views of the Adriatic Sea made it feel like I was in the Game of Thrones. Split was full of energy, beautiful waterfront views, and fascinating history. Zadar offered breathtaking sunsets and a more relaxed atmosphere, while Zagreb gave me the chance to experience Croatia’s vibrant capital city. Pula stood out for its impressive Roman architecture and coastal beauty.

My travels also took me throughout Italy, a country I had always dreamed of visiting. In Venice, I got lost in the streets and admired the famous canals on a gondola ride that make the city so unique. Florence quickly became one of my favorite destinations because of its incredible art, architecture, and rich history. Milan offered a completely different experience with its modern city feel and iconic landmarks. In Pisa, I finally got to see the famous Leaning Tower in person, something that had been on my travel bucket list for years. Rome was an unforgettable experience, filled with ancient history and world-famous landmarks.

One of the most memorable trips of all was visiting the Swiss Alps. The scenery was unlike anything I had ever seen before. Surrounded by towering mountains, crystal-clear lakes, and breathtaking views, it felt almost unreal. My favorite part was taking the train through the Swiss Alps and getting pictures outside the window.

I chose this specific study abroad program because I could visit all of these locations in three weeks. Whether it was exploring centuries of history, experiencing different cultures, seeing famous landmarks, or simply taking in beautiful scenery, each destination offered a new perspective and an adventure. Looking back, these trips have been some of the most rewarding parts of my study abroad experience. They have allowed me to step outside my comfort zone, learn more about the world, and create memories that I will cherish for a lifetime.
