Hey UA! We went on our final day trip to the city of Toledo, roughly an hour from our Nebrija campus. Our excursion happened to fall on one of the hottest days of the summer thus far in Spain! When packing for your trip, make sure to bring plenty of sunscreen and a reusable water bottle. Before even reaching the city, our charter bus took a pit stop at a scenic look out. I was amazed by the beauty of Toledo. We had a perfect view of the Río Tajo as it wrapped around the cluster of buildings that formed the main core of the city. Our walking tour began with an uphill climb that led to an old mosque. We had the opportunity to see the inside of the religious site and peruse the beautiful gardens that surrounded it. We ate a light breakfast at a cafe nearby before visiting Catedral de Santa Maria de Toledo. It was there that we viewed the preserved body of the Catholic Saint Ursula who was laid to rest all the way back in 1673! We were only in the cathedral for about an hour, but I could have explored the giant building for the rest of the day. After a two-hour lunch break, we reconvened to visit the Jewish quarters of Toledo and an ancient synagogue. I learned that Toledo has major influences from Islam, Judaism and Christianity. These influences were readily apparent in the intricate and unique designs and patterns within the synagogue! We finished our day by walking over a bridge and taking in one last view of Río Tajo before hopping back on the bus to Madrid.
