Coming back home was bittersweet. Though I was only in Germany for a month, it felt like I lived a small lifetime in that short span. It is crazy to remember how I almost did not go on this trip just because of anxiety. I was so worried about going abroad not knowing anyone on the trip, but I am so glad that I did it! If the only thing holding you back is that small nagging voice, ignore it and go build the memories of a lifetime. One of the memories I will always remember is the short boat ride we took from Konstanz to Meersburg and the guys recreating Titanic. Meersburg was absolutely stunning with all of the buildings looking like the one below.

There was something special about the rhythm of life in Germany. The days were full, classes in the mornings, exploring new cities by afternoon, and late-night conversations with friends from all over the world. I had the time of my life, and the memories I made there feel like ones I’ll carry forever. I loved the freedom of hopping on a train or tram to go anywhere, the joy of walking through cobblestone streets, and the cozy feeling of sharing an apartment with people from different cultures. I fell in love with the food, especially Döner, and the relaxed, welcoming restaurant atmosphere that made every meal feel like a shared experience. And more than anything, I valued the chance to use my language skills in real life, learning in ways no classroom could replicate. Leaving wasn’t easy. It’s strange how quickly a place can feel like home. I was so worried about going abroad not knowing anyone on the trip, but I am so glad that I did it! But even as I return to familiar streets, I know I’ve brought part of Germany back with me, in the way I see the world, in the friendships I hold close, and in the small but lasting ways I’ve grown.
