I have had a great time experiencing the culture and visiting the different historical landmarks. For my internship, I have been working with Masters students, Panagiota and Pantelis, from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. We have been working to craft an Audio Description for the Blind and Partially Blind for an archaeological site. This site was discovered in the process of building their newly opened metro station. I learned there was much controversy about the politics behind the preservation of the site and it took approximately thirty years to complete its construction. It is the shortest, but most expensive metro station in the world and this is because of how much history it houses! It has been amazing to work so closely with the Greek artifacts. I have also enjoyed the architecture of the city, and the relaxed energy the people have; a strong sense of community is fostered here. Also something of note is the coffee culture here, it is absolutely mind-blowing. It is never too early or too late for a coffee, and I absolutely adore it.
