Now that I’m back home I have mixed feelings. Once I arrived back to the airport I was relieved because I was finally home. I missed sleeping in my own bed, but I also miss visiting all the different countries. I also will miss all the friends I have made in this trip along the way. Prior to this trip I didn’t know anyone that was going, which made me nervous, but it all worked out. It was really easy to meet and talk with everyone on the trip from UA.

Participating in the study abroad has truly changed my perspective. Prior to this trip I didn’t know much about Europe or the beautiful countries in it. I have noticed that in European countries they cherish the small moments, whereas in the US it is very fast paced lifestyle. I noticed that in Europe it is very easy to get around and a lot people rely on public transportation. The pubic transportation system was very reliable, effective, and relatively cheap.  Another thing I noticed that although the infrastructure and transportation system is better in Europe, I felt as if it was not very accessible for handicapped people.

One big adjustment that I’ve experienced in Europe is that the restrooms are not free and you will need to pay a small fee to use them. In the addition to the bathrooms not being free you also had to pay for water at restaurants and it was kind of hard to find, whereas back home water is easily found and free at every restaurant.

I’m If I had to give advice to future students I would first recommend to read up on the country and learn basic phrases like “good morning” or “thank you”. I would also make sure to check the weather of the country you are visiting prior to make sure you pack appropriately. Try to plan outfits in advance and pack in packing cubes to avoid overpacking and paying extra at the airport. Additionally one big piece of advice I have is to make yourself a budget! It is very easy to overspend so just make a budget. Lastly, just explore and try everything and cherish the moment!
