One of the most exciting aspects of studying abroad is the opportunity to meet and engage with locals, gaining a deeper understanding of their culture and way of life. While in Spain, I hope to connect with a variety of people, from passionate sports fans to professionals in the global sports industry. I look forward to interacting with students at the EASM Summer School conference, learning how their perspectives on sports marketing and management differ from my own. Collaborating with international peers will provide invaluable insight into how sports operate in different cultural contexts.
Additionally, I meet local Spaniards who are deeply involved in the world of sports—whether they are La Liga enthusiasts, stadium employees, or individuals working for major sporting events. Spaniards are known for their love of football, and I am eager to experience their passion firsthand, whether through conversations in a café or at a match filled with energetic chants. I am also curious about how sports like basketball and Formula 1 fit into the Spanish sports landscape compared to the U.S.
Beyond the sports industry, I am excited to experience the warmth and hospitality of Spanish culture. I anticipate differences in lifestyle, such as the late dining hours, emphasis on social gatherings, and relaxed approach to time. Observing these cultural nuances will not only broaden my perspective but also help me appreciate the unique ways in which sports bring people together across different societies.
