Bonjour! France has been wonderful!
The seven days we were in Paris, we had a chance to visit the Louvre, Sainte-Chapelle, Notre-Dame Cathedral, Musée de l’Orangerie, we took a Seine River Cruise, visited Musée d’Orsay, explore Montmartre, including the Sacré-Cœur and Love Wall, saw the Eiffel Tower sparkle at night and had a picnic, and visited the Arc de Triomphe. We also took a day trip to the Palace of Versailles and the Versailles Gardens, had lunch at La Place Crêperie, and rowed boats on the Grand Canal! We learned how to navigate the Paris Metro like locals and ate like them too! My first impressions of France were that it was incredibly face paced but also incredibly slow at the same time. They waste no time going to and from places and events, but once they’re there it’s time to take it slow. I felt at ease but at the same time a little on edge because I’ve never been out of the country before.
While in France I’m taking two classes, Business & Professional Communication in France – COM 395 with Dr. Sara Hartley. As well as Special Topic: Creative Impact – MC 495 with Mark Barry. For COM 395, we had a few assignments prepping us for leaving for france but while we’ve been here we have each been tasked with giving an oral presentation on the excursion for the day with a partner! I was able to do the Louvre with my partner, London! Did you know that during WWII the curators from the Louvre hid the famous works in the french countryside to protect them from being stolen by the Nazis during German Occupation? That was something we learned when preparing for our presentation. Next, we take the train to Cannes for the International Festival of Creativity!
Au Revoir until next time!
