We started our study abroad adventure in the heart of Southeast Asia: Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Right away, the energy of the city stood out. Our first stop was a visit to the local markets, where we saw how Malaysia’s mix of cultures plays a major role in everyday business. From handcrafted goods to spices and textiles, the market stalls told a story of how tradition and trade go hand in hand. The culture was a unique blend of Chinese and Indian influences, which we experienced firsthand while exploring Little India and Chinatown. It was incredible to see how these cultures come together to shape the heart of Malaysia, along with the diverse mix of religions represented throughout the city.

That experience sparked some great conversations about global supply chains. As industries continue to evolve, Malaysia is working to modernize its systems while preserving its cultural identity. We discussed how the country fits into the larger picture of international trade and how it is adjusting to the rapidly changing world of logistics and commerce.

One of the most memorable parts of our visit was meeting with representatives from the Ministry of Digital. We learned about Malaysia’s efforts to introduce more technology into government processes, making public services more efficient and improving the country’s connection to global markets. It was eye-opening to see how digital tools are being used to drive real progress.

Overall, Kuala Lumpur gave us more than just a new place to explore. It showed us how culture, business, and innovation can work together in powerful ways.
