Hallo from Berlin! Our international adventure has officially begun, and oh my goodness, we were greeted with history, innovation, and so much currywurst and schnitzel.

Day 2:

We arrived in Berlin full of excitement and ready to experience our first city. After a day of exploring the city and being welcomed with a traditional German dinner, the next morning, we headed to the Brandenburg Gate, one of Germany’s most historical and well-known landmarks. Next, we visited the Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe, a powerful tribute to Holocaust victims. We learned how Germany confronts its past by memorializing it.

Day 3:

We visited the well-known Berlin Wall Memorial. Walking along remnants of the wall and listening to personal stories gave us a glimpse into what life was like on both sides and put our history lessons into perspective. We also visited the Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe, where we learned about Germany’s efforts to confront its dark past with honesty and remembrance. Then, we shifted gears and visited Adlershof, Berlin’s high-tech hub for science, research, and innovation. We learned about how the universities connect with startups to support everything from green energy to advanced optics. Touring the campus, learning how Germany supports innovation allowed us to see how our work is translated into different countries.
