Traveling to London has really expanded my mind on this different part of the world. Even though I did learn so much about the differences in nursing, the two things that stood out to me the most was the education path, and the salary. Starting with education student in London choose their path at a young age, around 14 years old. From then on students can receive an A-level, B-level, or IB level. These levels dictate which school you will attend whether it is a good school, or not so good. From there you attend nursing school for about 5 years and then you enter the field of nursing. The difference in the salaries is tremendous. The starting salary for nurses in the U.S is approximately $75,000 whereas the average salary for UK nurses is £38,000-42,000 which is about 50,000USD. I cant imagine having to work as a nurse for such little payment and this truly made me look at the United Kingdom in a different light.
