Hey! My name is Alli Lightsey, I am a Fashion Marketing Major, and for the first bit of Summer I will be taking part in a Study Abroad course called “Fashion Capitals” where we will be visiting each fashion capital in the world (New York, London, Paris, and Milan) for about a week each! I am super excited to be able to embark on this trip of a lifetime, and am so grateful to be able to study my passion of fashion on an international level. I had heard of this trip my Fall semester of Freshmen Year, and had thought about it ever since. I knew this was something I wanted to do for a long time, and when I received the email that I had been selected to go I was ecstatic! I had thought about all of the amazing opportunities and doors this trip could open for me career and connections wise, and also how I would be able to take in the other cultures and ways of life we would be experiencing in each stop! I have been preparing by researching particular places I would like to see, going on google maps and choosing “Road View” to see the physicality of what will be around me near my place I will be staying for housing, and just making sure I have everything I will need while being abroad. Due to me being very wanderlust about the world, there has not been much mental preparation if I am being honest. I am not nervous, but I have educated myself about being more cautious due to problems I could face in the other countries (pickpocket, etc.). I am overall very excited, reason being this will be my first time to Europe. As a whole, I hope to get to experience all the new cultures as well as gain more knowledge about each stop we are at than I had upon arrival.
