Hi, my name is Connor Lanier and I am a Accounting major preparing to go to Panama City, Panama for a week over spring break. During this trip, business school freshman get to meet with various companies and their executives to get hands-on knowledge of how their workday and business operates. We also have the chance to explore the city, immerse ourselves in the culture, and interact with the local community.

The opportunity to go to abroad is a really unique one because not only is it a shortened experience just over spring break, it is restricted to freshman business students. This is beneficial because even though we were all very different, we have similar goals, majors, etc. going into the trip. What else drew me to this program is that it is very affordable and is led by an amazing faculty team who have really created an amazing beneficial program. I have tried to prepare by reading the itinerary, working on my Spanish a little, and trying to get all the items I need ahead of time. Overall, I’m really just trying to get ready to soak in and make the most of the experience

Some thoughts going through my head first is just excitement, but I am also a little nervous and anxious just because I don’t like going into new situations where I don’t really know what to expect. The uncertainty brings me some anxiety, and I hope that going on this trip will help me feel better about new situations in the future. I’m ready to be in the uncomfortable environments and use them to contribute to my growth. I’m happy and love the group I’m going with and I hope to form close relationships with them during the trip. I overall hope to gain an expanded viewpoint and new perspectives on my place and my future. I want to have a better understanding of if I have chosen the right major and where I want to go professionally. I overall just want to make the most of these experience and form meaningful connections and memories.
