So far on my trip I have had an amazing time. Our first stop was Ghent, Belgium which was fantastic. I really enjoyed Ghent, it had all kinds of amazing things to do and see. I especially liked the canals and our day trip to Bruges. Although I was nervous about going on the trip, all of that has gone away so far. I am really enjoying my class and the city. My favorite thing about Ghent so far was the different churches and castles we got to see. Its really cool how this area has been around since medieval times. So far the academics haven’t been too bad. We had to give two presentations and each was a group project. One thing I was not expecting was how good the food would be in Belgium. Every restaurant we have been to so far has been amazing. The food here is really something else. Apparently French Fries were invented in Belgium, so here we call them Belgium Fries. I have also really loved the chocolate and waffles here in Belgium. They are amazing and I can see why people say Hersheys chocolate isn’t the best chocolate. I am definitely a fan of this Belgium chocolate. The locals here have also been amazing, most speak English! I was really worried about this one. I wouldn’t say it feels like home but this definitely makes communicating a bit easier. We have a day trip to Barcelona planned and I don’t think that will be the case there so I will try my best. Everything has been great though and I am really enjoying it, I look forward to our time in London and Amsterdam and all the day trips we have planned.
