My first impressions began before I even landed in Dubrovnik. As my plane descended towards the Dubrovnik airport and it broke through the clouds, I could see the beautiful Croatian coastline. The water was strikingly blue, like I had never seen before. The small towns and mountainous terrain along the coast near Dubrovnik provided a great view as my plane ride came to a close. This did nothing but increase the excitement that I already had. Before the trip, I never really heard anyone talk about Croatia. This created some uncertainty about what to expect, but as my plane landed, I knew it was going to be great. After I collected my bags and met some of my classmates, we loaded into a van and headed towards the city. This ride was on the most beautiful road I have ever traveled on. The majority of our trip was right along the coast, which provided an even closer look at the sea. The road also winded along the mountains splitting between huge rocks. When we finally arrived at our destination, we were greeted by very welcoming people. We stayed at the dormitory for the University of Dubrovnik, which was very clean and provided plenty of space. I came on a later flight, so not long after unpacking I went down to the restaurant in the dorm for our group dinner. It was great to meet some of the people who I did not know before the trip and have a great meal. Overall, my arrival to Dubrovnik was great and it had a wonderful first impression that did not disappoint!

Also, here is one of the first pictures I took on the trip. The camera doesn’t do it justice.
