I am currently wrapping up my study abroad experience. 10 countries, 100+ days, and many memories and stories I am taking home. Above all, I have learned so much about myself and my lifestyle that I would love to share with you all. Whether you take this with you on your study abroad experience or just want to read this blog for entertainment, here are some ways the world has unexpectedly changed me.

One way studying abroad and semester at sea has significantly changed my lifestyle is through my phone usage. Due to having limited service, I have been able to remain more present in my daily life. I will go to sleep earlier and wake up earlier. I get more done in my day and am so much less tired. Overall, my days are better due to not having my phone. Furthermore, I am able to have more meaningful connections with people and spend time with new friends. We were able to invest in each other better.

Traveling abroad and having a global perspective has helped my stress and anxiety levels significantly. I am definitely more easygoing with plans that change. I have learned that in the grand scheme of things, it doesn’t matter that much. Things will fall into place eventually, and all is well! I have a much better mentality. With this new mentality, it has definitely impacted my future. I would love to live abroad one day and traveling has grown my bucket list!
Budgeting is also essential when it comes to studying abroad and traveling. Having a set amount you are allowed to spend on stays, transportation, meals, and excursions will help you while you are in country.
These are just a few tidbits from my study abraod experience and I hope you are able to take some home with you too!
