It has been a little bit over a week since I arrived at the Univesity of Birmingham and it has already been so much fun, but it has also been a smooth transition. Since being here I have been able to meet so many people from across the world. Having the opportunity to meet so many people from such diverse cultures has been such a joy because it has allowed me to learn how others from across the globe do things differently. For example, in my flat, I have four other flatmates. Two of them are from Italy, one is from France, and the last one is from Australia. They have taught me so much about their countries, but they have also been so kind to teach each of us about the traditional foods which they have all made! We have had group dinners and have gone exploring the city together! These moments with them have allowed us to grow closer and build a strong bond. These connections are just the beginning of this study abroad, too and I am so excited to see how the relationship I have with them grows as well.
Since this is my first time in Europe, it has been a learning curve on using public transportation but it has honestly been so easy and simple to use. Exploring a new city and environment is one of my favorite things, so being in an extremely walkable city makes it 10 times easier! I am genuinely so excited to be here, I cannot wait to start classes, meet even more new people, and create stronger relationships with the people I am already surrounded by!
