We are over halfway done with our time in Sint Maarten. Although it’s bittersweet, this week was the perfect mix of marketing strategy and island experiences. We got to learn more about Sprinklr, and take advantage of all of the fun activities that this island has to offer!
In class, we dove deep into Sprinklr Insights, which gave us a new perspective on how brands (and beaches!) can use customer data to build stronger digital identities. We explored tools that help track things like audience demographics, customer experience, and online sentiment. It was interesting to see how a beach like Mullet Bay could benefit from something as technical as social listening. We also continued to develop our strategies and tactics for our campaign, and have started to lay out the groundwork for our project, my group is aiming to help draw in more visitors to Mullet Bay, as some people don’t see it as an exciting beach, so we plan to highlight all that Mullet has to offer.
We spent most of the week in classes or relaxing by the pool, but on Monday we took a trip down to the beach to celebrate Memorial Day! We all went down and got coffee from our new favorite coffee spot, “Da Sweet Tooth” before setting up on the beach and relaxing. We ended Memorial day with karaoke and dinner from the downstairs kitchen at our resort. It was fun to celebrate Memorial Day in a new place with new friends.
Outside of class, the island delivered once again. Friday, we went out on a catamaran again and got to explore the Prickly Pear Cays and Anguilla. The sand at the Cays was so soft and the island is beautiful. Before heading to Anguilla, we had a Caribbean lunch on the boat that included chicken, ribs, and johnny cakes! It was my first time trying a johnny cake which is the Caribbean version of biscuits. They are fried and so delicious. Aswe made our way to Anguilla a pod of seven or eight dolphins started to swim with our boat, it was the coolest thing I’ve ever seen and it is definitely the highlight of my trip.
Then on Saturday, we checked something major off the bucket list: horseback riding on the beach. We got to ride the horses through the trail that was along the ocean, so we got to take in the beautiful views of the Dutch side of the island as we rode. After riding the trail we ended our ride by going into the ocean with the horses which was so cool. My horse, Bella, was awesome and it was such a fun experience.
We concluded our week by heading out with our group and spending the night in Maho, and also heading back to the floating restaurant, Balaou. They had live music on Sunday, so we got to spend our Sunday floating while listening to great music and enjoying great food. It was a great way to conclude our third week here on the island, and I can’t believe it’s already nearing the end of our time here.
Between refining campaign ideas and living out island dreams, this week struck such a good balance. Can’t wait to see what next week holds.
