Our final week in Sint Maarten has come to an end. I am so grateful for the lessons I’ve learned, the friendships I’ve made, and the memories that I’ll have for a lifetime. We closed out our final week with lots of time spent together soaking up our last days on the island.
On Monday, we worked on our campaign books and finalized the last touches on our assignment. After spending the morning working on our projects, we spend the rest of the day relaxing by the pool and heading down to the beach access area at the resort to spend some time in the ocean. Before our final karaoke Monday, my roommate and I headed to Shogun to grab a bite before singing! Karaoke was so much fun and we ended the night with singing Dixieland Delight and jumping into the pool.
On Tuesday we headed to Phillipsburg for one last shopping day! Our first stop was a restaurant called Blue Bitch Bar, where I tried their “Jamexican Quesadilla” which was their take on a quesadilla using Jamaican jerk chicken! After eating lunch, a group of us headed to Juggies, the world’s smallest bar, to take a look and buy some shirts from the bar. Afterwards we continued to shop around and get parents for our families at home. We ended the day meeting up in our groups to work out any kinks in our assignments, my group specifically needed to pull more data from Sprinklr to support our creative strategies.
Wednesday we all got together to have dinner as a class at a reastraunt near by our resort called Dasha. The food was great and it was awesome being able to get together as a big group to talk and enjoy a great meal. We ended the night spending the night out in Maho visting some of our favorite spots from over the past month.
Thursday we dedicated the day to our project and spending time by the pool. We grabbed a bite to eat at Fat Tonys, I tried their mac and cheese which tasted exactly like Chic Fila’s, so it was nice to get a taste of home away from home. Later that evening, all of the girls got together in the classroom to watch Love Island as a group! It was a great way to bond and spend one of our last nights together as a group.
Friday was our last day and although bittersweet, we made the most of it by spending our day down at the beach and pool before getting ready for our last dinner together. Our last dinner was a sunset dinner cruise, we circled around the island and got beautiful views of the sunset while enjoying a great meal. It was such a great way to conclude our month in Sint Maarten and I wouldn’t have wanted it to end any other way.
Saturday, we all got ready to say goodbye and headed to the airport to get back home. Although it was sad, I left knowing I created long-lasting friendships, learned new strategies for my classes, and had the experience of a lifetime. Studying abroad in Sint Maarten was the best decision I have ever made, and I would recommend it to anybody.
