Over the past weekend me and a couple of my friends visited Salamanca, a beautiful and historic city only 2 and half hours away from Madrid. With the program I selected called “ISA” there are included a couple free trips including one to Salamanca. On Saturday at 9am we had to meet up with the group at one of the most northern metro stops called Arguelles after which a bus picked us up and drove towards Salamanca.

Before heading to Salamanca, we stopped at a small town called El Escorial where we saw the beautiful Monastery of San Lorenzo. Between the perfect sunny 56 degree temperature, the freshness of the air, the great mountain range in the background and the huge Monastery, there was no way not to smile from the sheer beauty of this amazing scenery.

After eating our packed lunches, we had to once again reunite with the group and to start heading directly towards Salamanca. After arriving at the hotel, my friends and I chose to relax a little bit, freshen up and once again head out in the evening to explore the city. If i where to describe Salamanca in a sentence, I would say its a small university-centered city built from sandstone, known for its stunning architecture, narrow passages, and loud community of college students. In the evening I had a sandwhich with Jamon Iberico and a customary glass of wine, which where delicious. After going and exploring the city until 1am, we chose to call it a night since the next day was packed events. Next morning after eating the buffet breakfast, we visited the Universidad de Salamanca, the oldest university in Spain and climbed to the top of the well known Salamanca Cathedral. If you ever come to Spain, make sure to visit Salamanca as it one of the many beautiful cities close to Madrid.
