I have always wanted to study abroad, so when I got the opportunity to spend 17 days in Greece, I quickly took it! Some key factors I considered before studying abroad were the location and the activities offered by the study abroad program. I have always wanted to travel to Greece, and the things we will get to see and do were one of the most critical factors for me. As for preparation, I travel frequently, so I know what to pack, how to pack it, and, most importantly, how not to overpack. This time, I will be taking only a carry-on suitcase, so it’s essential not to overpack so I can bring souvenirs back! While I am excited about the program, I am also nervous because it’s a new country for me. I have never been, and I have only seen it in pictures. It will definitely take me a couple of days to get used to the country, but I am excited to take it on! My goals for this trip are to learn more about Greek culture, history, and entrepreneurship. The thing I am most excited about in my study abroad program is a day hike to Mount Olympus! I am an Eagle Scout and went to Philmont, and that was one of the best experiences I had in scouting, so I am eager to replicate it (although less intense this time!). Also, I’m not looking forward to the jet lag! People sometimes think it’s a myth (get it, myth?!), but they are wrong! If you want to avoid it, try booking your flight to leave the U.S. at night and sleep on the flight over.
