Italy was the ideal destination for me to study abroad, thanks to its rich history, stunning art, and vibrant culture. Italy was the perfect place for me to get out of my comfort zone and grow as a person and as a student.

I planned this trip in consultation with my advisors, ensuring it aligned with my degree, and chose destinations like Rome and Florence, as they offer a wealth of culture and activities. I also considered safety, language, and visa restrictions before making a decision.

Packing has been a combination of practical things, such as comfortable shoes, layers, and adapters, and cerebral things, like memorizing Italian phrases and customs. I’m ready to accept anything that comes my way with an open mind, curiosity, and patience.

I’m excited but also nervous. I miss my family and friends, yet I dream about old ruins, fresh pasta, and new experiences. I’m thankful for this chance, and to keep my nerves in check, I’m writing in a journal and chatting to other people who have studied abroad.

I want to immerse myself in Italy thoroughly, develop my language skills, and explore all its amazing sights, from the Colosseum to the Amalfi Coast. I want to return with memories that will last a lifetime and a new perspective on the world.
