Before classes started here in Seville, I had the chance to explore the city and it’s already been pretty amazing. One of the first things we did was a bike tour of the city. It was a good way to get a feel for the layout of the city. Honestly, it felt good just to be moving around and seeing the city up close and personal.

A few days later, we took a day trip to Cádiz. It is one of the oldest cities in Spain and sits right on the coast, so it has this mix of history and beach town energy. Walking through the Old Town felt like being in a completely different world with the small streets, old buildings, and the ocean not too far away.

We visited the Cathedral in the Plaza de la Catedral, which is massive and hard to miss. Then we stopped by Plaza de España to check out the Monument to the Constitution of 1812. I didn’t know much about it going in, but it was cool to see in person. We also were able to walk through and sit in the Square of the Flowers, which lived up to its name and is a great place to people-watch.

It’s only been a few days, but Spain is a really nice place. I’m really proud of myself. I chose to step out of my comfort zone and go on this education abroad adventure. It’s only been a few days, but I already know this experience is going to stick with me for a lifetime.
