My sophomore year of college (I am a grad student now) I studied abroad for a semester in Torino, Italy. I did not ever imagine that I would be given the opportunity to study abroad again, however the I stumbled upon the perfect opportunity to! My teacher told me about a two-week faculty led study abroad trip that would visit China and Vietnam! It is right at the beginning of summer break, so it would not interfere with my internship, and because I am getting course credit it will lighten my required summer course load and I will save money on tuition by going on this trip!
I have traveled Europe very thoroughly on numerous occasions, been to Africa once, traveled all around north America and the Caribbean, been to Australia and New Zealand, and spent two months in Chile in high school. I have never been to Asia, so I am extremely excited for this trip, because I want to experience cultures that are different from anything I have ever seen before. I am not nervous for this trip, other than meeting all the other students that are also on the trip and my pre-trip preparations which I will discuss in a minute. The things that I am most excited for about this trip are trying new foods and experiencing new cultures.
I am scheduled to fly out of Atlanta the Sunday after exams, but I am spending Saturday night in Tuscaloosa to celebrate graduations. Packing myself up at the end of the semester, packing for the rest of the summer in Atlanta, and packing for my trip to Asia are very hectic for me. I am not a good packer to begin with, so these are my biggest woes in terms of this trip. Overall, I am so excited though!
