Day in the life of a Study Abroad Student

For my second blog post I’m discussing what it’s like to live and study in Florence and travel to other popular destinations in Italy. At first, it was a little bit of a culture shock, but there are so many amazing things about Italy. The people are very kind, the architecture is amazing, and the culture is relaxing. A few things that were a culture shock was the way people dress and the food here. It is important you always look nice and athleisure is not a popular thing to wear here. The food consists mainly of various pastas, pizzas, and sandwiches. The food is a lot healthier for you here and is delicious. I personally love fresh squeezed orange juice, pastries such as nutella croissants and cannolis, and any type of pasta with cherry tomatoes and basil. My daily routine consists of waking up around 9 AM and then walking to a nearby bakery for a quick breakfast. Then every day me and my friends would explore and see a new popular tourist destination in Florence. One day we went to Florence's famous gold and jewelry bridge where you can find good deals on true gold rings, bracelets, and necklaces. I bought myself a nice gold necklace with a diamond that I hope to give to my daughter one day and keep in my family for many generations. Another day we explored the famous gardens in Florence which consisted of spectacular views and beautiful flowers. Additionally, one day we went to the oldest pharmacy in Europe where they had many handmade soaps, lotions, perfumes, and candles that smelled amazing. Lastly, one of my favorite days was when we climbed to the top of the Duomo, a famous cathedral in Florence, and were able to see 360 breathtaking views of the whole city of Florence.
