Hi,

I choose to go studying abroad to experience something new and push myself out of my comfort zone. I’ve never been out of the country before so I realized that this would be a great experience for me to expand and grow as a freshman. Coming across this program was amazing since there was no cost in applying and attending this program. Initially studying abroad didn’t hit me. All the time spent preparing, learning Spanish, and getting ready for a new culture didn’t sit with me until the week of the trip That’s when I begin to feel real excitement.  I was a little anxious since it was my first time, but I didn’t let that feeling faze me. As I began loading the van to go to the airport, I tried to think of how Panama would be, what I would see, and what I would do there. The drive was long but eventually we arrived at the airport, which was amazing since it was my first time at an airport. After boarding the flight, I was excited for takeoff and was amazed at the view of the plane. It felt like I could see the entire city once we began to gain altitude.  Although my ears didn’t adjust to the pressure well on the descent, it was still a pretty enjoyable plane ride. My goals of the trip were to learn more Spanish, gain as much knowledge as I could about a different culture, and take advantage of every opportunity in front of me.
