One of my favorite parts about studying abroad is being able to travel to other places easily. I have traveled almost every weekend since studying in Barcelona. Since I also do an internship here, I have to be back for work on Monday morning which makes my weekends shorter, but I cannot complain. My first two weekends I went to Tossa de Mar and Mallorca. Tossa de Mar was about an hour bus ride away from Barcelona and it gave us a really relaxing weekend on the beach. Mallorca is an island off of Spain and this was a very fun weekend including the beach, trying new foods and a fun night life. Next, I went on one of the most fun trips I have ever been to in my life, Morocco. We stayed in the Sahara Desert and got to ride ATV’s, Camels and ate the most amazing Morocco food. After Morocco I went on a bucket list trip, London. I absolutely loved London because it was so different than everything else, I have seen this summer. It also was a nice experience that everyone spoke English and we didn’t have to struggle with a language barrier. Finally, this past weekend I went to Santorini. We booked this trip two days before going and it was extremely spontaneous lucky it turned out to be my favorite trip I have been on. The views were breathtaking, and the food was amazing. A lot of the determining factors for why I picked these locations was price. I knew that I would be spending a lot of money this summer and chose my locations based on that. However, I do think it is ok and necessary to splurge every once and a while. I have done all of my traveling with my roommates. I chose to do random roommates and I have lucked out extremely that they have turned into some of my greatest friends that are always down to travel with me. I recommend for anyone going abroad to travel as much as possible.
