By the last week I was so ready to get home and see my friends, family, dog, and to chow down on some Chick-fil-a. It wasn’t until the last day of classes when our teachers started to say their goodbyes that I actually realized that I was sad about leaving. It was hard saying goodbye to the friends I met, but I am excited to see them all when I get back to Tuscaloosa.

The flight was about 9 hours and I spent the last hour watching the screen that shows the distance to your destination. I was so excited when I finally got off the plane. I had never been so happy to be in America. My mom and best friend came to pick me up at the airport and had a sign and everything to welcome me home. As soon as we got in the car we looked up the closest Chick-fil-a and headed there. I was amazing! When I got home, I was greeted with big hugs from my family and some serious tail wagging from my dog.

The best parts about being at home is getting to see my people again, but also the food. In Spain it is not unusual to eat lunch at 2 and dinner at 10, and I never really could adjust to that eating schedule. It has been so nice to get back to eating dinner at 5 or 6. It has also been great to eat my mom’s cooking again. College and travel has definitely taught me the value of a home cooked meal.

Home is a great place to be and it has been nice to just relax for a couple weeks, but I am also so grateful for my time in Spain and to all the people that made it possible. I’ve learned the value of adventure and it’s my goal to seek it out wherever I am.
