What if I miss my flight? What if I lose my passport? What if I pack the wrong things? What if my phone doesn’t work? What if my luggage gets lost? What if I don’t make any friends on my trip? What if I get over there, and I don’t like it? What if…what if…what if…?

Ahhhh! This is just a peek into what my mind has looked like for the past couple of weeks as I draw nearer and nearer to leaving the country and embarking on my journey abroad. I have managed to fill my head will all kinds of ideas and analyze every possible scenario imaginable of things going wrong. But what if I chose to put those thoughts behind me and not care. What if I chose to take control of my own situation and realize that almost all of the what ifs that are consuming me are totally within my control and can be avoided with the proper preparation. I am fully able of making sure I arrive at the airport on time with passport in hand. While I can’t stop the airport from losing my luggage, I can make sure there is a tag with my updated information on it and that my carry on has a few days worth of outfits and supplies to get me through if necessary. As far as making friends and having a good time go, I am capable of having a positive attitude and understanding that a group of people who are willing to immerse themselves into a foreign culture are probably pretty outgoing and looking forward to meeting new faces just as much as I am.

And there you have it, problem solved. Now, what if I allow myself to get super excited about all of the amazing opportunities awaiting me and start looking forward to having a life-changing experience? There’s a question I am looking forward to getting an answer to!
