FlorenceItaly2

A few days, that is all I have until I board a plane and embark on a new journey to call Florence, Italy my home for the next four months. Now, I sit in front of my suitcase trying to figure out how to pack enough without over packing for the next four months and two seasons. I will be studying at Florence University of the Arts. I will be taking classes in Italian, International Business, and cooking (how could I go to Italy and not take a cooking class?). I will be studying abroad during the fall semester of the senior year, it took a few years to get the timing right but I figured out this was the best time for me to go abroad (I know what you are thinking…  I am missing my final bid day and football season as a student). I do not regret my decision one bit, I am beyond excited to be visiting Europe for the first time, and cannot wait to see all that Florence has to offer!

As the countdown has begun, people keep asking me how I feel. I can’t help but shoot them a smile and tell them that I can’t wait to go. Studying abroad is something that I have wanted to do since my first semester freshmen year. I love getting out of my normal surrounding and learning new things and meeting new people. I am looking forward to seeing the sight I am been dreaming of. After receiving my final packet from my affiliate program (ISA) last week with all my roommates and apartment information everything became extremely real and the anticipation began to grow even more

Studying abroad is an opportunity not just to learn about another country but a chance to learn about oneself. I am really lucky to have the opportunity to study abroad in Florence. As Oprah Winfrey once said “ The biggest adventure you can ever take is to live the life of your dreams” and studying abroad has been my dream for many years now, I cannot wait to see what the beginning of this amazing new adventure has in store.
