When I first arrived in Barcelona I was terrified.  I started wondering why my parents would ever let me do something like this.  When I was waiting in the customs line no one spoke any English and I started asking myself ‘what have I got myself into?’.  As I started getting used to Spanish culture I fell in love with everything that Barcelona had to offer.  I loved that everyone was laid back, they went to work when they wanted to work, they ate late and went to bed late, they talked for hours at meals and it was so amazing to see all the differences of cultures, that will definitely be what I will miss most when I leave.

I’m doing an internship abroad and the work culture is a lot different here than the states.  In Barcelona they come to work whenever they want, leave when their hungry and don’t stress what needs to be done. I definitely think the states could some of this.

I have gone to Paris and Amsterdam while I’ve been abroad.  I had such a great time and highly recommend going, it was definitely a different experience. I got to see things like the Eiffel tower, the Lourve (Mona Lisa), the Arc de Triumph, Anne Franke House, Van Gogh Museum etc.  But nothing compares to Barcelona.

Everyone speaks either spanish, catalan or english in Barcelona.  It has been a great experience and I have learned a lot about other languages. The locals are also very understanding when it comes to helping Americans get around.

I am trying to experience as much of Barcelona as I can before my time here comes to an end.  This experience has definitely exceeded my expectations but I can’t wait to share my experience with my loved ones!
